Remember the name!

Saturday, 9 December 2017

In the last couple of years, we have introduced some new varieties to the UK market under a code name. These varieties are vital to our portfolio and to help you remember the code we want to draw some attention to them in other ways. We created a special image per variety with a nickname which will show their main selling points and help you to remember their name.

   Remember SV1002BL
We have our broccoli variety SV1002BL, known for its ‘Resilience’. The 2017 growing season, especially in Lincolnshire, had particularly high systemic mildew pressure. This variety showed its ‘Resilience’ by continuing to perform even when our current standards began to falter. ‘Resilience’ (SV1002BL) has improved disease tolerance and harvest uniformity and has been proven as a consistent performer especially in times of higher disease pressure.

Remember SV5777AC
Our cauliflower variety SV5777AC is known as ‘Connection’. This variety bridges our early to our main season cauliflower portfolio so ‘Connection’ was an ideal related word for this variety. This variety is the ‘Connection’ between Abeni and our summer varieties Freedom and Fortaleza and is suitable for both October and early February sowings in the UK to give excellent continuity of supply of quality cauliflowers. Its vigorous and upright foliage also make it easy to harvest.

Remember SV5818AC
The 3rd variety in our ‘Remember the name campaign’ is the cauliflower SV5818AC. We are very excited in Seminis about this variety and that is why we nick named it ‘Distinction’. This variety is a main season cauliflower which matures in 80-85 days. It is suitable for sowings in October and sowings from February until late May. ‘Distinction’ (SV5818AC) is now established in the UK market and we believe that its class leading traits give this variety ‘Distinction’ when compared to the current UK market standards.

With these 3 varieties, we want to create ‘Resilience’ in our portfolio, ‘Connection’ between our cauliflowers and we want ‘Distinction’ in the market. For more details please contact our UK team by email at uksales@seminis.com or phone +44 19 54 71 75 81.
